the truck is a 2002 f250 power stroke turbo diesel that is a bank repo and it starts fine but when you touch the throttle nothing happens ( i.e. push pedal all the way down nothing truck just idles) so any ideas the guy who owned the truck (not me) had a couple performance chips in the truck but took them out before it was repod well i know the guy as we were friends growing up so i asked him about the chips but he got rid of them so any ideas? thanks in advance
may the turbo not be running....also when i picked up my truck from the place i bought it from they had a truck that did the same thing your talking about and they said it was the computer that was not allowing it to do anything besides idle
The problem is the TPS died. It's part of the accelerator pedal assembly. These trucks are "drive-by-wire" throttle pedals. That's why the truck stays at idle. You push the pedal, but there is no signal recieved by the PCM.
The 2002 trucks had a recall years ago about the pedal. That recall has expired as of April 2005, so you can't get it fixed for free. Here is a link to a new pedal: http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...PROD&ProdID=65
Takes 10 minutes to swap it out. It's an easy repair.
sorry i never got back to you but i figured i would let you know what the problem was we investigated the problem and the bone head had cut wires up under the dash got them hooked back up properly and the truck runs like a champ now thanks people i greatly appreciated it
