Putting Motorsport headers on my 5.4, job wouldnt be too bad if the old studs werent so hard to get out. Got them all out except the lower rear one on the passenger side. It was broke off about a 1/8 inch inside the hole. I drilled through it then let it soak in aero kroil for a day, went out tonight and tried to back it out with an easy out and it broke off. What a pain in the *** this job has turned into. I hope its worth it!!
Get a die grinder and chamfet the edge of the hole. (cylinder) Weld a nut to the end of the broken stud/easy out. and turn back and forth. It may take a few nuts, but you can get them out. I don't really like easy outs, to me most of the time they make things worse.
Just an update, headers are on and I had a full dual exhaust bent for it, no convertor, with a pair of Dynomax race magnum mufflers. It made quite a difference in power, I will post when I run a whole tank of gas through it to see if the mileage improved. If anything it sounds a hell of a lot better than it did stock.
