I maybe the dumbest person but I can't figure out how to get the old door hinge pin out.
I'm kinda kickin myself but just dont' see it. Anyone help me out here? I searched the forums but apparently i'm the only idiot with this problem. Thanks.
Any local parts store should have hinge replacement kits. I bought mine from NAPA I believe. You have to grind one end off the hinge to get the old ones out. They are pretty easy to replace.
I used the JBG kit when I did my doors. If I remember right I had to grind off the head of the old pin and then drive it out. I think the directions told me to drill out the hinge pin hole to a certain size and the insert the new bushings. Anyway, mine worked out just fine.
I made my own "pin" using two 3/8" (flanged head grade 8) bolts cut and
ground to fit end to end and welded two nuts together so the two bolts
would screw into it from either-end -tight- and be the right spacing both
at the same time. Reamed the bushings to match the 3/8" bolts.
Did that for all four pins. (June '94)
I never said I was smart. :/
I also removed the hinges from the door and vehicle, cut the ends off them
sorry-*** "non removable" bolts Ford used and reused them. They ain't easy
to cut since they formed their own threads the first time they were screwed
into the metal plate at the factory. ;)
Wanna hear how I replaced my heater core (with factory A/C) by removing
the hood and lowering the fender apron? ;)
Well, finally did it. Took a grinder and a drill to the pin and cut that guy out. Ended up using a GM pin and bushing set. Now I have to put the door back on
