Manual glow plug conversion...

While under the hood of my father's 6.9 I got to lookin'... is the solenoid at rear of intake the glow plug solenoid? If so is it as easy as disconnecting factory wire to replace with a switch wire?

yes thats the glow plug solenoid. all you need to do is remove the switched power wire and replace it with your new wire for your manual switch

What year truck?

There are two glow plug systems, that are completely different.
Do your glow plugs have spade terminals or pin terminals?

I will look when I see his truck again... I think he said it is 86 or 88...

unless you really know glow plugs a manual switch is an easy way to nuke $100.00 worth of gow plugs

My 6.2 GM had a manual switch and I just did a a "8- one thousand " count and fired her off good for several years... Now to train my father to this...

The year break for the glow plug controller was 87, so the 86 and 88 would be two different systems.

87 was a bit confusing, most of them were the new style system but I have seen a few with the old style system.
But I have no way of knowing if that is how they left the factory.
