Transmission Flush Question

In this guide I found in the tech section it never explains what I'm suppose to do with the hoses I hook up?

Not sure what they are doing exactly... the way I do it, I only need 1 hose. That hose goes from where the fluid is pumping out of the tube into a 5 gallon bucket to capture the old fluid.

I add fluid through the dipstick. I can't add as fast as it pumps out, so need to have someone inside shut the engine off the when the outlet starts spitting air along with old fluid.

Could be they are using the second hose for that, for refilling with fresh fluid?

You have two hoses because you don't always know which one is the output. Stick them both into the bucket and you're safe!

Uh... just looked at that link. Dunno, something is definitely missing.

One tip: Fasten the hose to the bucket or have someone hold it.
Some AT's pump the fluid with enough volume and pressure to turn the hose into the whipping, flailing jet of slippery goo.....

No, I didn't take pictures or catch it on video. Bummer, as I can actually laugh about it now (10 years later).

5R110W TorqShift transmission

There are 2 filters on it? One internal & one external. Anyways, it says to replace the old fluid with new fluid according to the exact amount of old fluid that came out, but what if your trans was already low on fluid - then when your done it will still be low on fluid. Also Truckblog calls it a "Torqueshift®" & Ford calls it a "TorqShift®", not being picky but for several reasons I dont think Truckblog really knows what they are talking about.
