I have a 2002 Moutaineer. The heater gets nice and hot, but the blower doesn't blow hard enough...I have to crank it up all the way to heat the car on a long trip, and if anyone is with me, then having a conversation is out of the question because you can't even hear yourself think. I have a Haynes Manual, and as you all well know, it doesn't really troubleshoot the Heating and Cooling system that well...Is there anyone out there that can help me to diagnose this problem? Could it be the blower motor resistor? Any comments would be more than appreciated!!! It's only going to get colder.
the resistor controls the motor speed, which appears yours is o.k. if you hear the noise and have multi speeds. if no air comes out, then the duct might be partly plugged with leaves or mouse nest, etc. you might look at another Explorer and compare the flow output vs motor speed setting. your might have a problem, but i never thought the air flow out was much on speeds 1 or 2. yours might be normal.
I forgot to mention that I also hear a squeak under the hood everytime the heater kicks on...could that have anything to do with it also? Thanks for the response.
