OK I have a 1984 F250 with a 351w and C6, EEC-IV. I overheated it yesterday pretty bad, steam out the tailpipe, but no water in the oil thank goodness. I fixed the hole in the radiator and put in some stop leak and it seems ok, no more steamy exhaust. Anyway I've been wanting to convert to injection since I got the truck. Seems like now is the right time. I was thinking about using remanufactured 92 heads from autozone, and getting the intake, fuel injectors and wiring from the junk yard. Does this sound viable? Also what to do with the bottom end, I'm fairly confident in it, its not original says ford certified reman on it. I don't want to pull the motor. Can I pull the pan and re-ring and hone from the bottom? Should I bother? What do you think about putting in an rv cam, can you recommend a cam for this application. sorry for the novel joe
Get a Crane 444232, great upgrade from stock and EFI friendly.
A junkyard EFI intake will work fine, get the whole thing with wiring harness and computer from a truck with either a manual or non-computer controlled tranny(C6 or AOD). If you can find an AOD to replace your C6 you'll gain big in hwy milage, it will need a shift kit and AOD specific flexplate though.
Hey Joe,
I've got a 94 Lightning that I'm switching over to carb. The only prob you would have is mines got a E4OD. But I'll let the intake, Injectors, wiring, cold air intake, and the computer for around $1000

Well,
someone spent my EFI money on a shiny new shotgun. So I am just going to pull the heads and replace the gaskets, maybe put some new valve seals on while its open. I think my cat is plugged or was and now my muffler is plugged. Will anything bad happen if I pull my cat and put in a straight pipe and new muffler for now and install a new cat when money is more available? Will it affect my EEV-IV?
