Hey guys, I have read what you have said about where to put the pyrometer on my 94 7.3 idi. It looks like the most popular place is infront of the turbo. Where is it reccomended to go exactly? And what should the max temp be when I turn up the fuel? Tank you for your help!!
That is a bit hard to get to in the engine bay though since after you drill it you have to tap threads into the manifold.
Where the thermocouple is located determines how high it can go.
At that location, my max EGT is 1200 degrees for a little bit.
Pulling a long hill, I drop my max to 1100 before I downshift or back out of the throttle a little bit.
I put mine in the passenger side manifold, through the fenderwell. It's in either the 2nd or 3rd cylinder back, can't remember which, sticking into the port.
