Almost forgot, got the resistors from Digi-Key yesterday to do the 140v mod. Seems like I read in one of the threads that you do not cut the length down ( it's about 21/2" long) to install, not sure about that. Hell, as small as they are you just about need a brain surgeon to install, I always wanted to be a doctor anyway, so I'm going to try !!
Don't forget that some of the 98's came with OBS 7.3's in them and 5 speeds. instead of the newer style 7.3 with the electric fuel pump and smaller turbo and zf6.

Since when? As far as no wastegate like Cleatus said its was not needed due to the larger exhuast housing. A wastegate bleeds off exhuast drive pressure to control boost or drive pressure. The SD's need it due to the smaller exhuast housing. A blow off valve is not needed on our trucks ever. BOV's are to relieve boost pressure when the throttle butterfly closes. We don't have a throttle plate.

Its what you told me. otherwise I wouldn't dare repeat it.
Something about a few of the early production 98's were setup that way.
The wastegate is there is relieve pressures between shifts, hard acceleration then backing off, etc. I'm pretty sure they don't open once you hit a certain lb. Blow off valves will though.
Nice try, but not quite. The wastegate is located in the turbine (exhaust) housing of most factory-equipped turbochargers. It's ONLY purpose is to bleed off excessive drive pressure that would cause a turbo overspeed (read: high boost) situation. Backing off of the skinny pedal will never cause a wastegate to open....since the tubine drive pressure CANNOT increase when fuel is cut. You're thinking of:

Not trying to be an ***, just being my over-critical self.
Thanks for all the help guys, I believe I got a little better grip on my questions now. Did the 140v mod on my truck the weekend, really like the throttle response, truck idles a little more aggressive, warm up time was a little shorter than normal I noticed this am (25° here). Had more smoke on acceleration than normal and could definely tell it had a few more horses. Thanks
