Ok so I have been looking for a 17* pump for some time now and finally got one, but I have a question. The pump came off of a truck at my work that blew a head gasket and threw a rod. The truck also has 294,000 miles on it. My question is, is this pump ok? Do I need to get it rebuilt? Were do I send it? What will it cost?
Ok next question: I also took the injectors out of the motor. Sould I run these until I get the money for stage 2's? I know I will need programming.
What else sould I try and Take off this motor. (It is a 2001)
That's some high mileage for that pump. If it's about free, it might work for you better than yours now, hard to say. I don't know anyone that 'rebuilds' them, other than buying a new one and send that one in for core. They loose efficiency over time, so the more miles it has, the less likely it's in good shape.
The injectors out of the '01 will not really do much for you, not even for cores. If you can get them for next to nothing, you might be able to sell them off for a couple hundred.
Having said that, there are a few guys that run them and maybe they can give you a better idea of how they might perform for you.
Ya, most of the benefit from a 17* pump comes from the fact that it's newer.
The injectors with tuning would be good, they're AD's IIRC which would put out a few more CC's, but keep your singles, they're much cheaper to upgrade.
