Recently my truck has been feeling a little "drifty" at speeds over 40mph just like I'm working to keep it straight... It's not pulling in any direction it's just not stable I guess...
My air pressure is proper and I have had a recent alignment I have 2 thoughts on the issue and I'm looking for ya'll's opinion...
My beast is 1997 4x4 4.6 Extended Cab
1.) My truck just rolled over 222,222 miles today! And it has the same shocks on it as when I bought it when i thad 168,800 on it so I know those shocks have at least 53,422 miles on them... Do they need to be replaced? When I jump on the bumper it doesn't bounce a whole lot... but the springs are sooo stiff that I just can't make it move that much to begin with.
2.) About a year ago I hauled 3,500 # of bricks in the bed for about 5-10 miles ever since then my bed sits maybe 1" lower than it used, to the bed's still higher than the front...
If it is the shocks what kind do ya'll recommend? I don't need offroad shocks, I would prefer ones that help on the on road ride.
I would have to say check your spring packs, you may have a broken leaf in there. I had one in my 97 and didn't even know it. I bought Rancho 5000's for my 01 Supercrew and it did stiffen the ride up a bit, but it holds the corners better.
I have the Rancho RSX's and love them.
I just went out to look at them, all they say are RSX, no 5000, 9000, etc.
they aren't adjustables....see my gallery.
