I have been searching for a while and i cannot find any company that makes a 16" bealock rim! I need an 8 bolt, does anyone know a company or has any information on where to find them? Thanks
I called Stockton Wheel about this issue last year and was not happy with the answer.
they said that only the 15" rims had bead locks and they wouldn't put them on my 16.5" rims. They also said that nobody makes beadlocks for anything other than 15" rims.
I don't know if this is actually true or not, but it just seemed silly.
Don't forget that most of the "beadlock" rims out there are really just for looks and don't actually lock anything. I understood that beadlocks were not legal for street use.
Another option is to use tire screws, these tire screw kits are sold by Jegs and others for race cars to keep the tire on the rim. I was told that the screw should go thru the steel bead of the tire in order to hold properly.
I went down to the Store where i get all my parts at and looked throught every book on rims and all they make is a 15 inch. Thats so dumb. I just want them for looks since im making a show truck. i guess i'll just have to settle without my bealocks even though they would look sweet on my truck when its all done. thanks alot
Tire screws are for drag racing, they make sure the tire doesn't slip and let the wheel spin inside it. The screw threads aren't strong enough to bite into the bead and function to keep the bead seated on the shoulder of the rim. If it's only for looks, it shouldn't be that big of a deal to make some fake beadlocks that is just a ring of metal bolted to the outside of the rim.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-Feb-02 AT 11:42 PM (EST)]You can get beadlock wheels in 16 inch, and almost any other size for that matter. Check out www.championwheel.com. They sell 16" beadlock wheels, and will turn any aluminum wheel into a beadlock.
16.5" wheels/tires have a tapered seat, and can't be bead locked (by any normal method).
By the way, Weld makes "simulated beadlock" wheels, and I have them on my truck. I like them, people give me lots of compliments. My gallery pic is not too good, but you can get an idea of what they look like. Also check out weldracing.com for pics of the wheels. I have the 16 x 10 Stone Crushers.
