my buddy bought a 1995 f250 the other day. drove it home everything was fine just needed some brakes and a new throttle position sensor. we got done with all of that last night fired it up and it threw a code right away, and now the tranny is shifting hard which it wasnt doing when we drove it home. i know its probably electrical but we dont know where to start. i was doing some research and found something about the speed sensor, could that be whats wrong?
i checked the codes and all that it ran was low voltage to the tps sensor. so i went through and checked the voltage and its at 4.8 volts at idle when it supposed to be 1.0. im thinking that maybe the computer is using that reading and sending something to the trans selinoid telling it to slam the gears because it thinks its shifting at a higher rpm then the motor is actually running at. I could be wrong, but i dont think that my speed sensor is just going to go bad overnight, and it wasnt throwing a code for it either. Im going to get a new sensor tonight, maybe the one i got is bad.
