optional equipment prices

When you are bargaining for a new car or truck you can normally negotiate on the price, but are the prices for the options such as, wheel packages, navigation, etc. set in stone, or are they negotiable? Any tips or experiences to share will be appreciated.

I am just wondering if they are offering a base vehicle at a discounted price that you are both ok with, can you expect to upgrade certain items at less than full price per item or, are the optional items prices locked in.

Everything is negotiable. Each vehicle has "basic" equipment which on all vehicles. You then have "add on's" which are the optional equipment items. This have a "sticker price" but that is not the actual price the dealer pays Ford for these options just as the MSRP is not what the dealer pays for the car. Get a invoice report onlne and it will show the dealer cost for the options. The "employee pricing" is basically the dealer cost of the standard and optional equipment.

I personally don't nit-pic option prices. What's the use. If I see or want to order a new vehicle with the equipment I want on it, I don't care about the individual prices. What I want to see is the bottom line. Nit-Picking is just giving the dealer the advantage of squeezing the balloon on one end only to inflate it on the other.
