I agree. A larger V8 shouldn't get much worse fuel economy than the 5.4; I've heard guys with the 6.0L Chevy 2500 brag about 20 MPGs....
I've got a friend who's got a 2500 suburban with a 6.0....and he gets 12 mpg empty on the highway......He also used to be a certified gm tech...so i know its maintained and nothing wrong with it....

oh thiers something wrong with it alright, its a CHEVY
Whe it these trucks are old enough for me to buy one, the 6.2 would probably be the deciding factor in whether i buy it or not. They are already butt ugly but the 6.2 could definatley sway me
Oh yeh the 6.2 probably wouldnt be the thing to do but would be nice to have. Boy all the young guys would love this wouldnt they. Add a programmer an a nice exhaust. Sweet. Tire smokin quarter mile screamer. As the muscle truck wars continue.
I don't agree with it costing too much to put it into the F150. They have already done the engineering to make it fit with the Raptor. They obviously have already installed them and ran the Baja 1000s with one. The Raptor is based on the F150, as we all know. All they have to do is install them and sell them. They are not stupid enough to think no one will by them. Economy is definetly what is selling right now, not HP. But there are still enough of us who would buy one, even if it only gets 15 mpg. My 2000 4wd only gets about 17 mpg right now (the way I drive it, my wife does a little better). I am willing to pay more for gas to get the power, and I know I'm not the only one. Maybe a minority, but there are still enough of us to justify making them. I actually think it would help sales.
The only thing I can think of is maybe it won't get the mileage they need to keep the govt happy, and the gas guzzler tax could be enough to kill it. Or maybe they'll read this thread and just do it!
you also have to consider that this would need to be mass produced if it is put in the truck, the 6.2 is not used in anything yet, so to offer it on a large scale ford has to either build or retool a plant to build the engine and the components that would be needed specifically for this model that are different than what is used on any of the current engines being offered. Until the economy turns back around I wouldn't hold my breath for any new engines, there are far to many upfront cost to fork out when the company is struggling to survive.
For what it's worth , I was up to a major Machine Tool Builder (in Port Huron,Mich.) 3 months ago on business for our company , and saw New CNC machining Centers ready to be shipped for the Ford Boss 6.2 Liter engine Block and Head line machines. There were also pallets of semi-finished parts alongside. Blocks looked VERY similar to our modular blocks today (OHC), and I measured the bores to be approximately 4.00" in the semi finished state.( The engine is Definitely an overhead cam design ) So, a lot of the tooling has been run-off , and waiting for installation somewhere at Ford. So- production is somewhere around the corner.
Will the 6.2L bolt up to the existing tranny's in the F-150 and the SD's? Will the 6 speed handle the TQ for the anticipated life of the truck? Is there a significant weight difference that may effect the truck overall?
Sorry for the questions, I don't know where to look for the answers.

i have this funny feeling it wont. idk why i have that feeling other than ford trying to get you to buy the raptor rather than just buying the engine and putting into something else, since the only production vehicle supposedly to get the 6.2 boss is the raptor.
Bringin' this thread back to life! So has anyone heard if the 6.2 will be in the F-150? I'm hearing it will be an option, Ford will finally be able to compete with the others in the HP game. They just won't be advertising it very much, all the advertising will be on MPG and GREEN! I will still be willing to suffer with less mileage to have power!
