Yeah it does pile on the km, about 900 a week!

I still have about (hopefully) 2-300,000 more till anything major happens though, as long as i keep treating her right.

Synthetic oil comes to mind for a start along with good maintenance and you should be fine.

Yeah, I just did an oil change and I just threw in dino from the coop this time. I went a wee overboard on the km last oil change, so this one is gonna be a cleansing one before I switch to syn.

Syn is kinda expensive to run all the time for a diesel, I will admit that!

I put 15,000kms on my last oil change with syn and the lab and the oil analysis came back good. That is the longest I have gone and as long as I am going to go. I don't want to push it. I use Amsoil by the way. 15w-40 in the summer and 5w-40 in the winter.

That is amazing Colin, mind if I ask. How much is an amsoil oil change? What filter did ya use?

I have always heard that a syn oil change would last longer, though I changed out my 0-40 coop from last winter with about 7500ish on it.

I`m using Coop synthetic 0-40 oil in the single axle L8000 and it seems that the oil pressure on a cold start comes up quicker than with non synthetic oils.

Oh yeah, synthetic oil is great for that. Not only does oil pressure build faster, but have you noticed how much easier it is to start your truck int he winter time with it?

A block heater works fine with dino oil, but I do prefer synthetic too.

How many liters does your 7.8 ford take??

My 7.8 takes most of a 20 litre pail, a few litres more than the tandem L8000 with the 3208.

Thats actually not bad at all.

I havent given my 444 an oil change yet to see how much it takes, i was contemplating doing a syn for the winter, but it looks like I will still be in "recovery" for most of the winter so no need to this winter!
