my warn hubs on the truck are shot due to the needle bearings I think I am taking it apart in the shop tomorrow the rest of the way I have ruined a stubshaft, I have a question do i need a conversion kit or not i bought this truck used it had manual hubs but it has vacuum lines to it but only has 4wd high and low on the switch no auto any help will be appreciated
I may be wrong but your actual hub locks should be fine. You can separate them from the actual hub assembly and re-use them. No need for a conversion kit or anything. As for the switch on the dash and having vacuum lines... someone with auto hubs will have to answer that.
The hubs don't have an automatic setting (that would be similar to full time all wheel drive). They have 2 positions. Auto and Lock. Auto means that the vacuum system will engage the hubs when you place the switch in 4Hi or 4Lo. If the hubs are in lock they are engaged regardless of the switch position and are spinning the axles. If you are looking at the hub you turn the switch counterclockwise to put the hubs in auto and clockwise to lock them.
yes i just came from the shop looks like someone replaced the auto hubs once, I pulled the hub assemblies off and found the problem the axle stub shafts are worn out causing alot of play in in the hub area due to excess play in needle bearing area. by the way does anybody have any used stub shafts
Warn hubs are LIFETIME WARRANTY. If the hubs themselves are indeed bad, contact Warn first before doing anything. They were very responsive to me when I had a rattling issue with mine.
