The only wheels I could find that are 7 or 8 inches wide are styled steel or styled aluminum.
** CAVEAT EMPTOR: While the wheels are 6" wide, some 1980/83 F100's have a 4.50" bolt circle.
i have 8 x 15" with 50/50 offset on my 65 SWB. plenty of room. tires are 255/70's gives cles to the same "rolling diameter" as stock tires. look at my gallery "work in progress". also the mid 70's 4x2 used 8" steel wheels, just took a set off a donor truck

No 1970's steel wheels were available with a width of 8" except for the styled steel (SS) wheels first offered in 1977.
The widest plain wheel width offered thru 1996 was 6" and these wheels were first offered in 1976. Previous wheels were all 5 1/2" wide.
You may have removed plain jane 8" wide wheels from a 1970's truck, but they weren't there originally, and they weren't genuine Ford, either.
Ford never offered an 8" wide plain wheel.
Get yourself a 1973/79 / 1980/89 / 1990/2001 / truck parts catalog and take a look-see...6" was the widest non SS wheel available.
btw: Wheels are not measured from the outside to outside lip. They are measured from the inside to inside lip.
8" and wider plain steel wheels were aftermarket. You used to be able to get them in RV stores and such. Stockton wheel may have them. I would just check the wrecking yards.
i have a spare set, but i may put them on the "original" 66, if i decide to keep the truck. i'm thinking of selling the 66 (maybe). depends on job situation. i keep a "look-out" for you. almost every truck in this part of the country has 8" or better on them.
