So I'm splitting up the sections into front lights, engine stuff, rear lights, etc and I'm stumped. I have the rear turns and parking lights and license plate light set aside, but what powers the actual brake lights? Do I use the orange 3rd brake wire and split it myself or am I just skipping over the actual wire set aside to provice signal when the brake pedal is pushed?
Matt, Turn signals and brake share the same bulb filiment, so if they blink the wire and bulb is working.
On the factory master cylinder out on the firewall, there is a pressure switch that has wires coming through it. With the ign. switch on there should be power to one of the wires, when the brake peddle is depressed the circuit is made and power should go to the rear to lite the lamps.
Well actually I'm using the kit on my 280Z instead of my truck for now, but I figuerd since so many people on here have used the EZ kits in their trucks, someone might know
My car has a brake switch behind the pedal. Two wires going in, I assume one is power and one runs to the back which is signal.
Does the 280Z use seperate bulbs for the rear turn and brake lights. A lot of imports do and it changes the wiring to the rear.
If they are seperate you can wire the rear brake lights and third brake light together. They do not have to be isolated like they would in a system with brake and turn using the same bulb.
I think the turn signal and brake light bulb are seperate. I'm pretty sure the parking light and brake light share the same bulb. Either way, I guess I'll have to use the 3rd Brake Light wire and split it in two and run the wire to both bulbs. I was mainly just wanting to make sure I had all the wires I needed, as I've already had to go back and cut zip ties and reorganize wires enough on this thing, I was kinda wanting to get it done right the first time
I think you are right on the brake wires.
If the brake and turn were on the same bulbs they would use the same wires and be isolated by the turn sig switch and the third brake wire would have to be seperate.
On yours you should have seperate wires for tail, turn and brake lights.
