the pigtail is not what i have i got the 3 silly wires to screw on.... i get power from the batt. term. on the back of the alt. + that wire has .002 omhs readin thu it "i think thats ok" but im goin to check everyting again in a min i gotta get this dang truck goin again
the reason i thought the batt was at fault is becouse i took batt. alt. and start to get them all tested i was told everything but the batt was good thats why i started with the batt. but after have everything retested the dang alt. turned up bad the testing being done day before thanksgiving and the day after.
Get a schematic, I'm assuming this is an '85 351 in an F-150
yes its electric and it works its on a key on/key off wire have the autozone schematic pulled up right now the truck is a 85 f-150 4x4 351 ho with holly 4bbl ill get the number of the carb it is if that will help new holly 600cfm
No need for the carb#
I was only asking because that's the only other thing I see in the key on white/black wire circuit.
This should also excite the alternator according to the schematic I'm looking at.
i have never had the blk/wht wire never had it some one cut it/was not there when i got the truck found a hot wire with the keyon/off that had the volts to work the carb it got hooked up there i have been runnin this truck for almost 1 year with the set up i got now other then the new carb old carb was hooked up same way tho never had a problem with charging/startin till about 1 1/2 weeks ago let the dang thing sit becouse i was tryin to rescue a horse. + build a pin for another horse did not have the time for the truck
what im lookin at i should have power at the ground for the alt. "goin back to the basics" power at "f" engine on. "b"i have power goin to ground power at blk/orn at starter relay. something i was told to do is take a screw driver and see if the alt will pull the screw driver to the back in the middle it did not "parts guy test" he said that if the alt does pull its workin if not its not workin dont know how good this info is but it was worth the shot no pull on screwdrver btw

It's Ok. Don't beat yourself up over it.
You were doing the right thing helping another living thing(s).
The truck can, and will, get fixed.
(edit)
I see, the colors are different in the one I'm looking at.
I still don't understand why you "have power at alternator ground".
Now that we're on the same page, what are you confused about?
