I've been looking at buying a new truck for a few months now. My ranger is on its last legs. I want to move up to a mid sized or full sized. How practical would it be to buy another domestic truck with the the Big 2 (RIP Dodge) in bad shape? I'd hate to have to rest my **** in a tacoma.
obviously this forum is biased towards ford. But Stay with ford. They are in the best finnancial state compare to the other 2 of the big 3. GM will probably file bankruptcy by the end of the year or by the end of january. Dont buy foreign. that would hurt the U.S. economy even worse with your money going over seas to a foreign brand.
As much as try to buy American, I wish people would look at the actual figures before they ASSUME anything made by Ford, GM or Chrysler is more domestic than a Toyota or Honda
Summary:
F 150 80% USA down from 90% in 2007
Tundra 80% USA
Silverado 85% down from 90% in 2007
Toyota Sienna mini van 85% USA
The big three have been building plants in foreign countries and closing domestic plants as fast as they can. Toyota, Honda and others are actually BUILDING US PLANTS and EMPLOYING AMERICANS !!!
So if you want American made to be your deciding factor, buy a Silverado or a Toyota mini van.
i do understand that toyta and honda are open up jobs in the US. But where do you think all the profits go? Ford and Chevy might build part of the cars outside the states but most of the profits come back here.....right into the pokets of the CEO's...lol but still back here

The profits go to the shareholders and capital improvements. If you wan't more to stay in the US, buy some Toyota Motor Co stock.

Maybe you're not familiar with the way public corporations work? The profits don't "go" to any country. They go to share holders, who are from all over the world, not any single country. If you have a 401K you're likely benefiting from Toyota and Honda stocks, and are a very small owner of these companies. There's a huge number of American dollars invested in foreign companies.
