Hellwig anti-sway bar

Does anyone know if the Hellwig anti-sway bar will work with a Fabtech 3.5 Hanger System? The rear block kit is 2". If not, does anyone know what sway bar would work with this lift? Also, it appears that the previous owner had some traction bars on this Excursion at one time. Will traction bars help with towing at all? I am trying to get my Excursion tow ready before I buy a trailer next year.

Helwig is the right choice for a swaybar. You may have to add different link arms. I have a procomp 6 inch lift.. I had to order longer link arms... on a 3.5 you may be OK...
Traction bars will help with axle wrap.. So will the RAS system... you can get one off ebay for $70.00 I have both and tow 13-14K pounds.. it really helps out with towing

Good Luck

Hopefully, the Hellwig will work I noticed on the Hellwigs website that they had adjustable end-links starting at 6". I haven't found the RAS for much less than $270. Thanks for the info.

Check ebay for your RAS. I remember a thread awhile back stating there was a seller on ebay selling them cheaper than any other place online.

I just noticed you had the Firestone air bags on your Excursion. How do you like them and what did you do to make them work with your lift? Did Firestone just give you longer carriage bolts or is bracket strap or brace designed different for a lifted truck?

Hey there. There is a different mounting plate that I had to order I will snap some photos today and post em for you. If I remember correctly on the swaybar the stock ones were just a weee bit to short. I know the longer ones they sent me are set to the shortest setting. I will send you some photos of those as well

If you don’t mind when you are taking the pictures could you also measure how far from the U-Bolts the bracket strap starts and ends. If you look at my picture you will see that the original owner had ladder bars mounted to the axle. I wondering if those mounts are going to get in the way of the bracket strap.

Also, would it be easier to install the Firestone Air Bags first and then the Hellwig Anti-Sway Bar? I thought it might be easier to install the Anti-Sway Bar to the shock mount/plate with the bags inflated a little. I appreciate the help I haven’t got a straight answer from the vendor I called and Firestone hasn’t e-mailed me back yet.

I didn't like the weight & mount locations of the Hellwig (and others) unit on my 2006 F150- due to possible exhaust pipe interferrence (custom), relocation of differential vent tube, ground clearance issues and weight. So I designed and built a unit that is a complete bolt on using factory mount locations requiring only 2 holes be drilled in the frame rails- complete driveway install in 1 hour using common tools. If interested I can provide for with further info.

The Hellwig Tech e-mailed me a couple days ago and said that for my lift I would need a 7643 plus a 7960 6-8" adjustable end link and 7964 clevis kit to accommodate my lift.

However, I received the Anti-Sway Bar yesterday and decided to install it and check for myself. The only problem I had was that I needed to jack the bar up on the pasangers side about a half inch to get the nut on. Also, the directions from Hellwig are a little confusing I wasn't sure what hole to use on the drivers side for the end link. It seem to explain that the bolt would go through the brake line bracket hole but it didn't look right so I used the hole above it. So, what do you guys think does it look ok or should I have gotten the other parts?

It looks great I think if you order the link arm extension parts it will make the bar droop down too much. There was a signifigant length difference.

If I remember right the end link that came with the kit was a little over 7" long so the 7960 that is adjustable from 6' to 8' looks like it would work. However, if I don't need the extra parts why should I pay the extra money? Will it really help much more if the arms are completely level? Can anyone think of a reason to get the additional parts?

7960 - End Links, Adjustable, 6 in.-8 in., Polyurethane Bushings, Pair

7964 - Sway Bar Link; Adjustable End Links; Clevis Kit For Stem Style End Link Conversion

The link ends are not that short.... At least the ones they shipped me...Mine at there shortest/smallest setting are just right for a 6 inch lift.

Yeah, there are three different versions of the adjustable end links. The ones they told me to use were the shortest ones. Where did you install your drivers side end link? Did you use the hole above the brake line bracket like mine or in the brake line bracket hole like this.
