. I have had some rough idle issues. Dealer could not duplicate issues. After 2nd time in shop they put a V.D.R. on the truck. (Vehicle Data Recorder ) . I had it in the truck a couple months and had 1 issue. Hit the button to record. Dealer calls sayin they want their V.D.R. back. I told them I had 1 recorded issue. They said to bring it in. Dropped truck off .2 days later they call me and said they did not see any issues in the data ,and could still not dupilcate.
So my question is can you have a rough running motor ,and not have any bad data?
The 1st issue I had was. Loss of throttle peddle and bucking. Then not starting.
2nd issue . I backed out of driveway.High to low idle .No power.
3rd issue. Driving down street ,and it was like I just had gotten flat spots on all 4 tires .Motor was shaking .
So i'm really confused.
The other kicker is .A small dent was put in my bed just below my right tail light. I will get a buddy to fix that.
Any info would be great.
Tomball Ford did that same thing except they never gave me a box and wouldn't even try to take care of me. Went to Gullo Ford they quickly diagnosed, fixed my problem, and had me back on the road.
Sure I had to drive further, but my problem got fixed and I was treated much better.
I have seen several trucks with the exact symptoms you describe. When I was able to actually experience the concern, I found that the ICP pressure reading from the ICP sensor was very erratic and would sometimes read 1100psi with the key on engine off. These trucks (and one van) would sometimes set a code P0299 (turbo underboost) after the "dead" pedal symptom occured. Replacing the ICP sensor and connector has cured all of them.
A chaffed wire at the EBP connector is also fairly common and can cause similar symptoms on later model trucks that have the EBP sensor located by the left cylinder head, underneath the coolant resevoir. That chaffe is pretty easy to spot.
