Probably picked up power to the brake controller right by the switch, and when he ripped the controller out, broke the wire connection to the brake lights.
As for the glow plug problem.

In the above picture look at the grey connector above and to the right of the round vacuum reservoir.
That connector is where the chassis harness connects to the engine harness.
Inspect the end that has the large orange wires in it.
If it looks like it has been hot or melted, your glow plug problem is there.
Sometimes that connector is black, grey, brown or white, so just look in that area for a connector that has large orange wires on one end (2 of them) and has wires going to the engine on one side, truck on the other side.

thats dude i giy have saved me a lot of money in repair buy show me how tro do it myseft and not have to take it to a shop and pay 80 labor and 6 hours for a 20 min good thanks
