HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM ?
*IT WILL COME BACK IN TIME, BUT NOT AT THE TIME YOU WANT IT TO.
*ITS GETTING COLD UP NORTH AND THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO LOSE THE HEAT IN THE TRUCK
*HAS NOT HAPPENED A LOT SO I WAS JUST SEEING IF ANYONE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN
*THANKS FOR THE HELP
It's happened to mine a couple of times in the year I've owned it. I've also read about it happening to others.
No idea why it happens, just when it does I shut off the truck and restart it again. Seems to work after that with no problems.
I have now owned 2 different 2005 Excursions, one EB and now Limited (due to first one being totalled on accident). When my first X started blanking on the climate control display I asked dealer service dept, they could not get it to do it when they had it in...after a few tries they witnessed it and replaced it under warranty. Didn't seem to happen again after that, so I thought it was in the process of failing, glad it was replaced.
THEN I started reading on here about a few other folks with this problem, and someone (don't remember, but maybe they will chime in) said when it goes dead you either have to shut off the engine and restart OR while running, turn your headlights on/off or off/back on if night time... I thought that must be gibberish, and could not test it as mine was working correctly.
Then the accident earlier this year and insurance settlement and purchased another used 2005 X, within a month of having the replacement X the control head went dead....well actually had been driving with windows down, so probably was dead from start up and didn't notice until driving a while and went to turn on the AC and noticed it was dead/no display/no buttons. I remembered what I read on here and cycled headlights on/off and then turned the AC on, worked fine. Have done it one more time since then. Have no idea why, common ground or something I assume, but it works for mine. So, since this one is not under warranty, I hope it keeps working.
I'd be curious if y'all try this, let me know. Shutting engine off also works, but if you are on the road that's a pain.

Thanks For All The Come Back On The Little "glitch" I Guess.out Of All The Years Having The "x" This Being The Only "glitch" Thats Great Then.the Restart Did The Trick, I Will Have To Try The Light Thing Next Time"if There Is A Next Time".
I am glad to read this is happening not only to me. Although mine only does it when it is 95 outside. I will be quick to let you know the next time it happens to me and the outcome of that technique. Now have any of you had a problem with the fan control just getting a mind of its own for a few seconds? I have it in manual mode and all of a sudden the fan goes full tilt for anywhere between 1-15 seconds and then back to the setting I have it at. I assumed it was related to the power outage of the climate control or some sort of voltage issue.
