well i do know from experience that if you keep it at 70 or less you will get 2-3 miles per gallon more than if you are going 80+ i was doing between 80-90 most of the trip i was on...closer to 80 but i know for sure i was at 90 quite a few times..
your not kidding about the cold, I have gone from 14L/100km to 18L/100kms, I have a winter grill cover on too, don't let the truck idle, jump in maybe 2 minutes and off, morning temps have been -6 to -10 celsius the past week, and look what we have to look forward to......
Just wanted to add my 2 cents to this.I had my oil changed by the dealer at 2500 miles just to get an oil sample, dealer used bulk 15-40 dino oil.Changed it myself at 7528 miles and used Shell 5W-40 which is full synthetic.I drive less then one mile before I hit the interstate and noticed bad turbo till I got off 4 miles later.I drive the same 6 mile stretch of flat road daily after leaving the interstate,so the week before I changed the oil I would set the cruise control at 62 MPH and averaged between 16.1 and 16.3 miles per gallon by the lie o meter. After the oil change, little tubo lag at the interstate and 17.8 to 18.5 mile per gallon on the 6 mile drive on cruise.Shocked the crap out of me! I think the higher price of the oil,$22.00 a gal, will be well worth it.Am leaving on vacation next week to Ohio towing my 8000 lb camper and am hoping to see an inprovement in my miliage towing.The15-40 dino oil gave me an average of 8.5 mpg making the same trip.
