Is it possible to add a block heater? If so, what would the cost be for the parts and is it a must-have-dealer-do or is it something I can swing with a bit of elbow grease? 2006 6.0L
I just finished installing the cord. All I can say is it is a PITA. My hands were just too big in some places and too short in others. I had the cord sitting around for a year and just never installed it. This is where I got the cord. Your Premiere Source for Ford Truck Parts and Accessories
Thanks for all the info. I don't have the truck yet, I have my sights on one and it does not have the chord (at least I dont see it, and judging on where it is I highly doubt it has one).
Good lord what a pain. I guess nobody in fla has ever ordered one. Finally called the man I should have in the first place my local NAPA MAN !! $18.69 plus tax Being an assistant Fire Chief I need mine plugged in and ready to go anytime.
Do I just need a damn wire with a 3-blade plug (reg grounded 110) or is there some fancy cable I need to do the job? What does this "wire" plug/hook up to and how? Fancy plug connection or do I need to splice the cable in?
I found some that are like $30 and then like $70. Does one have some kind of kit where as the other just a wire?
Dude...... There are several threads about this..... search. It's a cord with a normal 110V plug on one end and some weather proof attchments on the other that hook on to the already installed block heater. The part you are looking for is located on the engine just above the starter on the pass side, looking through the space between the frame and the inner fender.
