03' F350 6.0L diesel. Runs like its missing on one cylinder, lots of blue smoke at idle, blue and black smoke rolling down the road. Any ideas...?
Thx.....
Oil pan rusted out, hubs needed to be replaced, IPR went bad, Transmission lines needed to be replaced, etc. When it's running its a beast, however, more often than not there is an issue of one kind or another.
Thinking I'm gunna replace the air and fuel filters in the outside, hail mary, shot that the air filter is plugged OR one of the fuel filters has some water in it....

How long have you had this truck? (just curious as to when the fuel filters were last changed) There are two fuel filters; one is to the right of the oil filter housing and the other is on the frame rail underneath the driver. The fuel filters need to be changed every 10,000 to 15,000 miles.... religiously or else you will have major problems. Check out these instructions from the Tech Folder for changing the fuel filters: FUEL/WATER SEPARATOR DRAIN PROCEDURE
If you have an International dealer close by you can purchase a set for a lot cheaper than at the dealer but ONLY use Racor filters do not try and save a couple of bucks by buying cheaper ones.

Sounds like this truck has had a hard life. jmaskew is right on w/ his post. You can cause injector damage quickly with plugged fuel filters or with water in the fuel. You also can have quite a few injector problems with dirty oil, too much oil, non OEM style oil filters, etc ..........
Thanks for the responses. I'm going to buy filters tomorrow and give that a shot before I take it, as a last resort, to the stealer. I need to get this truck fixed asap. We've already had 42" of snow in November and I need to plow! I'll report back.
LOL! Marquette Michigan. 2nd snowiest city in the country. Marquette typically gets several hundred inches of lake effect snow off of Lake Superior. And when it snows here, it stays. Marquette is also in the top 10 coldest places in the country. Over 3,000 miles of groomed snowmobile trails too..
I have a 2006 F-250 Crew Cab 4x4 and the airbag light is staying on. When the key is on it flashes twice and then pauses and will repeat this 3 times the it will flash fast and then just stay on. My cruise control doesn't work and the lights on the steering wheel flicker or won't work at all sometimes and they flicker when im turning. My horn works sometimes. And when I lock it with the remote my parking lights flash but my horn wont honk anymore. My abs light is also on and when I get it cleared it will come back on. Can anyone help me.
Sirenboy,,sounds like you have some issues in the steering column,,
cruize control not working
steering wheel lights flickering
Horn not working,,,,all on the column,,,anybody know if that so called Multi-function switch in the steering column could be the culprit ??
You must have gone to the Sarah Palin school of public speaking. As in, "open mouth, insert foot" cause I'm not sure how the oil pan rusting from the inside out, the hubs needing to be replaced, the IPR going bad, the transmission lines needing to be replaced have anything to do with maintenance, but...... ok. And why, "wise elder", did you assume that just because I hadn't replaced the fuel filters that immediately meant that I hadn't changed the oil regularly or the air filter regularly or was not smart enough to use the correct oil or fuel additive....? You must be reaaaallllyyy smart! Thanks for the advice.
