I recently bought a 1972 f100 with a 360 in it. It was running great on the ride home from 2 hours away and then im pretty sure one of the old dried out radiator hoses blew and a lot of stuff got wet under the hood. we had it towed home and now cannot get the truck to start to find the leak. The engine is getting spark and fuel but will not start. it just spins without firing. Any help would be greatly appreciated as i like this truck and would like it to not become a lawn orniment.
Ive put new plug wires on it and the cap is dry. It seems to get spark down at the plugs but just wont fire. Im thinkin i'll change the plugs and make sure everythings dry down there. One guy i know thinks its just extremely flooded.
I changed the plugs this afternoon and dried everything electrical that i could think of and made sure there was no moisture inside the cap. It still wont fire or even act like it wants to start. I pulled all the plugs out to let it sit over night so if its flooded some of the gas can get out of the cylinders.
(if your sure there is gas/spark[at the plugs] then plan on) checking the timing events, & compression. You changed the wires,(check the routing again).
The oil is light brown and looks like crap. valves are openin and closing so its not a broken timing chain. Engine has no compression at all. I figured cracked head or head gasket is bad but i was told that atleast a couple cylinders would still have compression so were thinkin the timing might have jumped or the timing gear might have broken causin the timing to be off. any thoughts?
