I am having an issue with my 2002 Ford F250 5.4 4x4 right now, I was hoping you all could help me with.
My issue has to do with the ABS/Speedo bouncing issue. My problem started over the summer, where if I was driving along with say the cruise control on, if the truck came to a hill or slight incline, and would need to apply more throttle, the ABS light would pop on, in turn killing the cruise, and the speedo would drop 10 mph, and it would all recover, until you hit the next hill or incline.
Then it started doing it anytime, I would give the truck more than 1/3 throttle leaving a light, trying to pick up speed etc, not using cruise control.
So I am pretty frustrated, then I started to notice at night when this happens, that once the ABS goes out, immediately the headlights dim for a brief second and bounce right back.
NOW I KNOW YOU ARE ALL GOING TO SAY THE VSS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED!
I already have done that with a Ford Replacement part. So I decided to pull my front ABS sensors out, and they had a bit of crud on them, so I cleaned them off and put them back on.
I am not sure what the heck is wrong with the truck, so I turn to you all for advice on fixing this issue.
Please let me know you thoughts on this. Thank you.
I have never seen an issue like that. Maybe you may have an electrical issue such as the battery ground / alternator and/ or alternator diode?? Rear speed sensor would just throw a ABS light / possible loss or intermittent loss at certain speeds on the speedo. Take your truck to a auto parts store that gives free code checks and see what code is stored. I have seen some trucks with water intrusion issues with the GEM / PCM cause weird power loss issues, look behind your dash near the PCM to see if you have signs of water leaking from the windshield.
