I was not using a digital meter , just an old Simpson meter , so it could be off a little. I was going to order some cps`s but they are closed this week. It looks like it will be Saturday before I will be able to work on my truck again.
Last night I took .025 off the cps stop so it is closer to the cam. The truck runs a little better , but still has a miss - shudder. Will a diesel change timing with acceleration & could Jody have put the wrong timing in my chip?? I have a early 1999 truck & may have some mixed parts since it had 16,000 miles on it when I bought it.
Did you trim the gray or black CPS? The gray one has been known to cause a rough idle on split shots. I have no idea what they do on single shots. I'd put my money on installing a new black CPS before I thought Jody messed up the timing somewhere.
You may need to follow Mike's example and get the truck live tuned to get the truck like you want it.
The one I have in right now is grey , but I have a black one that I have shaved .02 off of & I may put it in tonight, while I see just how much I can take off the grey one. I`m curious now how far I can go in towards the cam without hitting. Got to go I just got a call. I work nights in Maintenance.
I just found out how much clearance there is between my cps & the cam gear. The number is between .025 & .030 taken off of the cps where it mounts to the front of the engine. I was putting tape on the cps & just now the gear ate off 3 3/4 pieces of tape. The total distance from housing to gear is 1.0555. I left the black one in with .020 taken off of it so I should have about .010 clearance. Now to talk to Jody for some live tune time.
