Florida bumper height law

Hello all, I live just across the line in S.E. Georgia and have never given any thought to bumper heights. Does anyone know what the law is in Florida?

If i remember right it's around 18" but from what i have seen its not too strictly enforced(at least not around here). If your truck in the pic is what your asking about it should be ok.

36" is what I have and they have not messed with me. (It's a drop down. Pull the pin and it drops to 36" from 60".) It works pritty good. Call FHP they could tell you.

If your truck's net weight is less than 2,000 pounds, the max bumper height is 24 inches front and 26 inches rear. If it's more than 2,000 but less than 3,000, it's 27 front and 29 rear. And if it hits the scales between 3,000 and 5,000 pounds, it's 28 and 30 inches.

What if your truck is 9,900-10,000? What is the bumper law if any?

They don't really enforce the bumper height law here too much. My cousin has a Chevy that the bumper comes up to just below my chest and I am 5'4". I know many states also require mud flaps for trucks that high, but I see trucks like that all the time and they never have mud flaps on them.

Bumper height

4Wheel&Offroad published the regulations a while back.....I'll try to dig it up.
There are different regulations for bumper height....it corresponds with the vehicle GWVR.....most members of the local fuzz could tell ya' too. there's also a regulation for the front lighting height. A friend of mine with a low rider got a ticket for his headlights being too low but I think it was a buncha B.S.

Don't forget that many trucks are adapting rear panel body kits designed in California for California driving and do not meet Florida rules and regulations. California did not require a rear bumper and that was the problem. Very common with the low rider look, but not legal.

Many Florida dealers will/may sell regular full size trucks such as the F150 without a rear bumper to reduce costs. If someone gets stopped without one they are on their own. Because of the many different bumper types and styles it was common a few years ago to do this. I have not purchased a new truck lately.
