The Google map is great, Neal. That is a great addition to the RHN. Unfortunately when you zoom in on Google Earth, not all areas are very clear at a close distance. The Iowa ones are a guess at best. Oh, by the way, you have 2 Buckinghams on there. Delete the lower one.
Go to our website and download the KMZ file and then open it in GoogleEarth...it will be clear then!
Alright here is the fix if you are using Internet Explorer...contrary to belief it is NOT a "bug" in IE...it is a security issue. The reason is, if you allow scripted windows to run on sites you don't know, some nasty results can become of it. Java scripting is a great tool (like a gun, fire, etc.), but there are always those who will misuse a great tool. The RHN site uses javascripting to post a small window to request the password to the database...that is all it is doing. In addition, on any browser YOU MUST HAVE JAVASCRIPTING ENABLED!!! So here is the fix (borrowed from another site) for you Internet Explorer users (you might want to give Google Chrome or Firefox a try ).
1. With the site containing the scripted windows open (Roadside Help Network - RHN), select Tools –> Internet Options from the Menu Bar. If your menu bar is not available, right-click on one of your other toolbars and select the Menu Bar option.
2. Select the "Security" tab inside of Tools –> Internet Options, then the "Trusted Sites" icon. We will be adding the RHN website to the Trusted sites section, so click the "Sites" button as well.
3. If you kept the site containing the scripted windows open, as per Step 1, you should see it in the "Add this website to the zone:" dialog box. If not, you will have to type the site URL in, including the http:// or https:// prefix. Once the site containing the scripted windows is contained within the 'Add this website to the zone:" dialog box, click "Add", then "Close", then "OK".
NOTE ON THE "REQUIRE SERVER VERIFICATION (HTTPS://) The "Require Server Verification" box should be un-checked. Do not check this box.
4. If you still see the yellow Information Bar on the site in question, close and then reopen the site. You may also need to close all open IE7 browser windows, but that shouldn't be necessary.
That's it! You're done! The Information Bar should no longer show up for the RHN site, and you should be able to see the password window open when you attempt to enter the database.
Thanks for doing this Neal. The map is a handy little feature to look at if you've got a trip planned.
I did respond to your survey, but thought I would post my opinion here as well. I like the map with the cities listed on it, not the member names. If I'm going to travel and end up needing help, I'd be much more interested in finding what town the closest help is in, not who is around.
I must be the only one in Louisiana. Thats cool, call me if you break down, or call me just for the heck of it. Just call me if you are close.
looks like Ga,Tenn, and eastern NC are a little slack but when I'm in Ga I can help with Tenn and NC because I'm 9 miles from western NC border and 15 mi from Tenn border
