Anyone know where I can get some cheap jap bed sides? I had an Idea to POR15 the insides so they would last, plus I don't drive in the salt. I'm no welder, so full sides would make it easy. Anyone have a site where I can get these? I'm in ohio, so pickup would be preferred.
Try certifi I have used them a few times on rebuilds on a few cars and trucks. I like them because there is one in Denver so I can just jump in the truck and go pick it up. I have a older book but "bedside rh (73-79)(truck)(8'box)" is at 126.50 shop price. I am sure it has went up some but they have them in a few other states.
UTfball - similar situation here. Ordered bed parts for my '78 from Blue Oval (just because I didn't want LMC, etc). When I got the box of parts, guess what....................one of the shipping labels was from LMC!!! dooohhh So the darn parts went from Kansas (LMC) to Blue Oval Truck (California) then back to Iowa. Hope they didn't get worn out from all the frequent flyer miles. haha
Yes thickness, you can literally bend the sheetmetal by hand it's so pliable, and as I've stated before, you can see there body panels start rusting before you even put it on the truck. The first time I got a tailgate for my truck, and slammed it closed a couple times, the daggon thing creased right in the middle above the handle...needless to say they don't get my business anymore. I've also gotten cowl badges from them before, and funny thing is they came in a DC package. So I thought that was great...good quality. But once of the badges cracked horizontally between the F250 and the lower portion Ranger, and the other one cracked vertically right down the middle. I wonder if DC sends LMC their rejects. When I buy things directly from DC I've never had a problem. So all in all, pay for it now or pay more later.
Good Point. I might see if I can save them first. Thanks again!
Just my $.02 here... If you want good quality body parts the only three places to get them from is Dennis Carpenter, Tabco and my personal favorite AMMUSCLE.
Tabco you have to call and verify that the parts you want are stamped by them, they also ship tiawan crap as does NPD, Blue Oval and LMC. Be careful.
The cheaper stuff is ok, but you have to sandblast it, prime it properly, then paint it. It will last and if you're careful with it. I think LMC wants a bit much for there stuff. I need a whole bed for a '77 F350.
I installed an entire bedside on my 74 from LMC. Driver's side. It has held up amazingly well for nearly 9 years now. I also didn't think it was made flimsy or of subpar quality.
But then again that was 9 years ago. I am now in need of a passenger side.
Who is this Certifi place? I live in Northen Colorado, so Denver is just a hop skip and jump for me, besides saving $100 in shipping too!
The way I see it,if one wants quality sheetmetal, head out to the junkyard. That's where I go for most of my stuff.BUT,I live in the south,so most of our metal is in good condition. Can't say the same for the northerners.
