check engine light burned out

hi, the truck is a 1997 v6 4,2 and the check engine light has burned out ( blown). my question is will the engine management system see this and put the system into limp mode (safe) or is it not that sensative.
my problem is in the UK any spares take for ever to arrive and it may be like this for some time. thanks bokker.

The computer won't do anything different.

The bulb is a generic one, probably a 194.

When the light burned out on my Dad's Ranger, there were no immediate effect till we took it in for some repairs. After they fixed the problems and went to get it ready for safety and IM, the compute refused to get ready on anything. They test drove it for over an hour trying to get it ready. Then they went and replaced the bulb, and drove it again. Got ready after about 10 minutes. The computer may be programmed not to get ready unless the light works.
