Question speedo

hi, the speedo did not start working until a few miles had passed. this is not the first time that this has happened. is there something on the way-out to cause this or is it me worrying for nothing. bokker.

bokker,

I believe the signal for the speedometer comes from the sensor that sits on top of the rear end housing and/or a VSS sensor in the transmission. (Driver's side near the rear of the transmission??)
At one time the rear end sensor did vehicle speed and ABS sensor.
But I think around 1997 they added a sensor in the transmission for vehicle speed and the rear end sensor functions as ABS sensor.

You might try checking that the sensors are secure and the wiring is good.

Maybe wiring/connection problem behind the dash display?
