A little help please , My 78 F150 C-6 Tranny is blind in reverse any clue where the backup light switch is located? good bulbs and new sockets wiring looks great . When i think back i'm sure they worked before i built the tranny is it part of neutral switch or under dash??
the neutral saftey switch is on the side of the tranny were the gear selector goes in and has to be adjusted right to start the truck in neu and prk and turn on reverse lights
sometime in the mid 70s they moved them but the late c6s are on the side of the tranny you loosen the two mounting bolts the holes have some slot to them and with the tranny in neutral rotate the switch back and forth until you can slide a #43 drill bit in a little alinement hole I hade a switch work for starting and not backup already or maybe switch is bad Maybe switch was bypassed before you got the truck is the switch there?
Thanks, Yes the switch is on tranny got this truck new from Ford in 78 , I will give it a try this weekend for now it's 17 Deg. little too chilly for working on it now. If switch is bad where is best place to get one ?? NPD ? Carpenter ? I will start looking when i get a nice day i will post some Pics of a nice one owner Ranger / Explorer
Just replaced mine last week and cost was $50. from Advanced Auto Parts with 1 yr warranty. It was normally $70 but negioated because Auto Zone was $30 something. It is also A Borg Warner item. I checked with Napa and they wanted $90 and it was the same part #. Now my backup lights work too.
Checked position of switch today it is correct, Does anyone know what wires to place jumper on to see if its the switch ? would like to try a jumper at the {grey} plug under the hood just dont know what color wires to place this on
