clutch question
According to my vin numbers my engine has a 10" clutch. I am planning on replacing it when I rebuild my tranny. My question is can I use the 11" instead? Reason being I plan on doing a swap to a 351w in the future and I really don't want to buy 2 clutches. If I can't use it I will just hold off on the clutch till I do the swap. Thanks!

The clutch plates are drilled and tapped for both.
I have found no difference between the two except price.
I go for which ever is cheaper.

I priced both and there is less than $10 difference. I was just hoping I could get the 11" instead of the 10", now I will be able to use it when I do my 351w swap. This makes me happy! LOL

Let me re-ask the question because I'd like to know too....the pressure plate and the flywheel on the 10" setup will accomodate the 11" disc?

also....Does an 11 inch disc give you more wear surface area? Or just a different Dia.

The 11" does give you more surface contact. I just stepped up from a 10.5 to an 11 inch about 2 weeks ago and so far it hasn't given me any trouble just remember to polish your flywheel on the new contact area otherwise you will get some wicked chatter.

Pressure plates are set for the different size clutch plates.
Not 100% sure, but i would not mix and match without some serious measuring.
Never really looked at the 10" vs the 11" to see if the parts interchange.
As MatCat58 said, take the flywheel to a good machine shop to get rid of any
imperfections so your clutch will last as as possible.

I plan on getting the clutch kit, not just the disk. This will just make things easier in the future!

Make sure it's got the alignment tool!!
Got on once that did not have it, and did not know it UNTIL after I pulled the tranny and clutch off.
