3 bolts and two wires. Might be the battery cable is too tight and holding you up.

So it's not hitting the flywheel? That sucker should slide right out.

Is it binding up anywhere? I know its tight with the cable and wires.

I think I got the right one....there is lots of movement...a missed bolt wouldn't allow this much....is a cluster-f*k for sure...

I had the same problem, finally found the "last" bolt hiding. Be careful where you buy your starter. I bought one from Auto-zone. I ended up changing it out 3 time before I got one that worked for more than a month. They replaced it for free, but still I had to change it.

Glad to hear you got it out. That top bolt is a pain. I usually keep a decent stock of tools in my truck, but I had to buy a new extension to get at the top bolt. Luckily, I was replacing it in a Oreilly's parking lot. lol.

Still got your old starter, or did you turn it in for the core already? How do the solenoids compare? You could change them over, or even dismantle the new one to see if you could scavenge parts from the old one, but i don't think a solenoid is too expensive.

You could look in the yellow pages for a shop that specializes in starter/alternator service and i'd bet they'll have solenoids available. Napa should be able to get you another solenoid, depending on the experience of the counter person. He/she may not know where to look, and only knows how to find a complete starter in the computer. Just keep asking politely.
