ok. i am hoping someone has delt with this and can tell me what they did to fix it. i can be driving and the truck shuts off and engine goes to idle and until i let off the gas and then when i get back on it it picks right back up. when it does this at idle the engine dies. check engine, water in fuel, and glow plug lights all come on for about 3-5 seconds. if it dies it has always fired right back up. it seems to me that the pcm looses power intermitantly or something is shorting out. has anyone had to deal with a problem like this? btw: i have noticed this mainly when the truck is cold.
it is a 03'. F350. it has a banks chip in the side of the ecm. it is a very small chip i think it is like 45lb tq. that is all. yes i have replaced the sensor on the front of the engine with a new ford one. i also had a icp sensor so i threw it on there just for fun. neither one helped.
the truck acts the same way if you flip the ign. switch off and back on really fast. except all lights (abs, brake ect) come on. thats why i think the ecm/pcm is all that is powering down. i will remove the chip.
