Exactly, not much more room inside. It is more room, but at what cost? My wife did like it, and it would have been her pick. Then I asked if it was worth three dollars more per day than the Escape/Mariner/Tribute till it was paid off. She said the E/M/T looks pretty good when you put it that way.
I forgot to add, I liked the looks of the VUE, but it's just wasn't in the same league when it came to fit and finish. Like it or not, I am picky about such things and the VUE just doesn't measure up. At least the sample that I test drove. It had several paint flaws, and the panel fit wasn't up to Ford's measurements. Nevermind what the Asian's send here.
The escape looks like a tough little suv compared to the edge. The edge looks to refined and mini van looking where as the escape looks more jeepish. The mariner has all the room we need and has a tough rugged stance. It feels so much better thaan our 01. We loved our 01 and it was great, but the 08 feels even better, maybe even a little stronger.
I picked up a 2009 4wd V6 Escape today. So far so good. The Sync is great for hands free phone use and according to the owners manual it has a lifetime fuel filter. Who ever heard of that?

Lifetime fuel have been around for a long time but they still suggest changing them. Go figure...
