Okay guys go ahead and laugh...new guy on the block and need to be updated on abbrevations you guys use for things. IDM, IPR, PCM, 15*, 17*, CEL, PMS, SD body, LD body, Powerstroke SRW, FPR . I think the last one is fuel pressure regulator, but the rest I'm not sure about. Also liked the idea all you guys have on the 6637 air filter, I'm using the stock box with a K&N filter (not good I hear, explain problems with box), but doesn't that 6637 filter get wet. Your not afraid of the paper getting weak from moisture and sucking a hole in it. Thanks in advance for all you guys knowledge.

I have hit mi 6637 with the pressure washer and it didn't even distort it. I however don't recommend pressure washing them! I do blow through puddles (on the occasion that it actually rains here is Arizona) and have never had a problem. I had 50,000 miles on my old one when I changed it and there was no power difference with the new one, so it still had useful life left in it. and no turbo dusting.
The walmart bag is simple. To get a clean engine bay it needs to be washed well and frequently. So to keep water off the 6637 I simply put a walmart bag over the filter and wash vigorously. The mod part comes when you forget to remove the bag, close the hood and drive into town to get some lunch. The truck actually performed flawlessly!
In all truthfulness though the time I actually did this its wasn't a walmart bag it was a plastic seat cover we use at the shop to keep customers seats clean. So only most of the filter was covered. One of these days I will get a picture of the Walmart bag mod!

Good idea on the bag to keep the filter dry....Love the mod part.....

ps- here's an semi-useful piece of info... hit 2, then 4, then 8 on your number pad while holding down the "alt" key to get the "degree" symbol. it'll make all your friends think you are a computer genius! (i.e. "use the 203° thermostat")
Thanks for all the help guys, going to do the 6637 filter mod this weekend, time for service anyways. Also going to change thermostat to 203°(symbol's cool Eric) noticed it taking to long to warm up lately, old one must be stuck open some, it's the original. Been changing antifreeze every 3 years since truck was new and using John Deere Cool Guard already mixed 50/50 and has DSA additive already in it. (anyone know anything bad on it) I worked for Ford Ag. dealership for 17 yrs. and John Deere 5 yrs., always been a little gun shy of electrolysis happening in diesel engines. Going to replace the CPS (thanks TJ for link) also, it's the original one, but truck has been cutting off on it's own lately and hicupping go down the road, thought I had a short until I found this site.
Many "Thanks" again to all of you!!
