Cab Swap

Hello I have been lurking for several months and am now ready to seek advice! I have a '76 F250 Regular Cab 8' box Camper Special, 2wd, 460, AT, I bought the truck from the original owner with 157,000 miles on it.

Overall body condition is excellent, frame is rust free and straight, mechanically almost perfect. My preference is to have a super cab short box so my questions are;

Can I swap the cab from a '76 super cab and mount it easily on my frame or were the frames different?

If I do swap cabs can I swap my 8' box for a 6' and have it all fit?

Thanks in advance,
James

Im not sure about doing this with a super cab but I know it wont work with a crew cab. The wheelbases are slightly different.

I looked at doing this at one time (found a deal on a SuperCab, but it turned out to be a rust bucket when I went to look at it.) Anyway, I did some looking at the frame and the rear cab mounts are in different locations (farther back) on the SuperCab. So I have the feeling the frames are different enough to make this more than a simple pull and replace type deal.

Even if the frames are different the rear cab mounts are located on a crossmember so would it be possible to cut the rivets and move the cross member farther back? My assumption is that the super cab has 4 cab mounts like the regular cab. Just a thought.

Heck no, the frames aren't the same! :/
Them's Fords ain't they? LOL :)

I've got two '75's... F100SC 155" and F150 133".
The F100SC's frame is "taller" than the F150's.
They added a "belly" to it, to gain strength looks like.

I don't know where to go from here, I'll need specific questions, and some
measurements would be a big help to go with them. I could then compare
yours to mine... or something like that?

ps- You know, you guys need to edit your information so a guy won't have to
switch pages just to look up where you are. If you edit it one time it'll save a
hundred readers from having to look it up ...make sense to you?
pps- I have an Arizona "city" truck's SC-cab I don't want.
