Question Lope Idle?

I havent plugged my truck in yet this year and its doin great. Went to start it this evening after sittin for 6 hours in 20* weather with wind. She fired up and was really cold but notuced it had a hard lope idle for about 10 sec. Is this normal for the mods I have?

I'm not as familiar with EOT mod as the others, but as I understand it, the EOT mod tricks the PCM into thinking the oil temp is colder than it actually is.

With 20* weather and the EOT mod, the PCM might not be able to compensate for what it "thinks" the engine oil temp is.

Try disconnecting the EOT mod when you get home. Let her sit for the six hours or whatever and see how she acts when you try to start her. If the lope is gone, I'd bet the EOT is the "issue". You could try rigging a bypass switch for the colder months. Once she's warmed up, flip the switch.

Good idea. My only question now is the eot is only 4.7k. Joe was explaining to me about how the engine can go down to a rediculous number. I think in the negative range. It may be possible that the PCM thinks it is this low but I was wandering if it could be the 20k as well since I'm sending more fuel to it while its still cold. I guess this one will be a mystery until I figure out exactly what it is. Kinda made me feel special though. Not only did I smoke out my friends house but I also sounded like a mod care at the strip

I should have checked for your mods before replying but, some guys have problems with the HPOP and the higher resistor combinations. With some resistors (mid- to high-20s) the HPOP can't compensate.

Others run 22K+ resistors but have the 17* HPOP and everything works great. Each truck is different. My truck was ok with a 20.3K resistor but crapped out with a 25k. I have the stock HPOP.

I've ran up to 30k resistance on a basically stock truck ( except for breathing mods ) without getting a lope or running codes or running out of oil capacity. But after about 20k I'm pretty sure the power was decreasing, so i just keep it at 15.6 now. Just goes to show they're all different

It sounds like the cold weather romps to me. Its nature of the beast with our injection system. The cure is block heater or thinner oil (5W40, 10W30)

5w40 oil will be fine. Some run Diesel rated 10w30 as well but the 5w40 diesel rated oil will be just fine.

holy crap! how long did it take you to make that?!

i dont think you followed what i meant, i am going to hook the scanner up to see how many degrees the 4.7k drops the oil temp reading.

Cut and paste Joe.

Look at the chart and add 4.7 at 200*.
Then look at the 4.7 added at 32*.
You will see what i mean.
