Time to Rebuild?

I have a 1999, F150 4x4 with 180,000 miles. Over the last 3 months it has been burning 1 qt of oil for every 500 miles. I have done all of the regular maints and more then the book calls for. Most of the miles are highway miles, and the oil has never gone past a half qt low. Is it time for a rebuild?

might change the pvc valve first and see if it failed. its purpose is to suck dirty fumes out of the motor. if it failes, it sometimes causes excess oil burning.

^ i agree, i recently replaced mine and it was broke. it only cost 1.12 from advanded auto. it is located on the passenger side valve cover.

Ok Thank you I will try it. I will probably go ahead and clean the throttle body and see if everything gets better. If I need to move toward the rebuild should I look at the valve seals first? Maybe I need to do a leak down and compression check? I really would like to avoid the rebuild so maybe the valve seals are going.
