Fabtech or Rancho Leveling Kit

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Jul-02 AT 04:18 PM (EST)]I have the Fabtech kit on my truck and really like the whole suspension system. I would personally go with the Fabtech because it will keep the ride the same. If you put on the Rancho leveling springs, it will most likely make your suspension stiffer in the front (generally with additional "off-the-self" leaf springs, the ride of the vehicle will become stiffer). Also, you may need new U-bolts and some other misc. pieces if you put on the Rancho leveling springs. Since I have an 11" lift, I had to change my shocks and steering, but with just the leveling kit itself, I'm not sure if you need new shocks or if you need to do anything to your steering, but you could find out if you called a shop that sold the Rancho or Fabtech kit.

Rockinfigz...The Fabtech hangers are nice and will not require any steering modification but their shocks are marginable. However, if ride quality is important to you, I would suggest going with a 3" leveling kit from 'The Edge'. It includes exteme-duty hangers and Bilstein shocks which are the only currently available which were custom valved specifically for SuperDutys. This will provide a noticeably improved ride over stock.

The Edge hangers are actually $10 less than the Fabtechs and are much nicer. And the Bilstein 5100s are also less expensive than the MX6s. I don't know how the MX6s ride but I do know that the 5100s are light years better than anything from Fabtech, Skyjacker, Rancho, or Superlift. I don't want to violate any forum rules so shoot me an e-mail and I'll set you up with an Edge dealer.
