compatible shocks

I have a 99 f150 w/ 4.2 2wd with the fabtech 3.5" control arm lift. The rear shocks are fabtech fts7236 specs are below. I was wondering if anyone knows of a shock that would work/fit just as well such as a rancho or something I can get locally w/o ordering. The rear block is 2" (factory?).

extended 24.8 and collapsed 14.6

If you go to your local shop, Rancho and most of the other shock companies list their shocks by spec in their catalogs. It's also available online, but I found it to be easier to cross reference when you have a half dozen catalogs lay out over a counter. Close is good enough for shocks.

Most "SHARP" countersales people will ask you if you truck is lifted and/or dropped.

Tell them what you just told us and you should be fine.

Rancho, Bilstein(sponsor) are good starting points. Procomp also sells Rancho like shocks at an affordable price.

I put Procomps on a while back and they are still firm and are holding up well.
I plan to put Bilsteins on all my trucks when the time arises.

Perhaps because I've been the sharp counter person, I'd think there are that many that would qualify. Most of the shock books I've been in say 0-4" lift and 4+, the average counter man can get confused, so pick which and tell him what he needs to come to your shock, or just show up with a part number.

Download the Ranchero catalog, spec. what you need, then go to Advance Auto and give them the number and if not in stock they can have it there the next day. That is what I do.
