ContiTrac - Yeah or Nay?

Anyone with experience with ContiTrac? What do you think of them?

I'm contemplating trading-in my ContiTrac when I get my '03 Expedition for something with better on-road (braking and cornering) prowess since my driving is almost always on-road. Typically OE tires strive for good fuel economy and good ride comfort. I assume the ContiTrac is the same?

I want better traction on dry and wet (performance) like the Bridgestone Dueller H/P. I'm willing to trade treadwear life and off-road (winter) traction for better on-road tires.

Your comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

I just put on a set of Conti SUV tires (that's the official name) and I must say, so far, I'm happy. This has only been about 1000 miles so far so this might not mean that much. They are a all-weather rib with a small bias towards hi-way driving. They seem to be very good in the rain, they have deep channels in them. I can't say how they are in the dirt or the snow cause I've yet to drive them in those conditions. I paid 100.00$ per wheel including mounting and balancing and rotation every 5,000 miles. I'm happy so far. I was going to get a set of Pirelli Scorpian AT's, but I really don't drive in the dirt or mud too much. The snow in NY isn't what it used to be either.

Thanks Redmist.

How do you find the braking compared to your previous tires? That's my concern with OE tires.

Judging by the seat of the pants, I'd say that it was much better. Then again, the Michelin's I was running previously were pretty worn and dry rotting.
