Larger alternator options?

I have a 2003 F-350 w/ a 5.4, I am looking into installing a stereo system and many off road lights. I am wondering is their a larger alternator I can purchase or what are my options? I am going to be upgrading the ground system and adding a secondary / larger alternator positive wire to help with the efficiency / charging.

You can get a 200A alternator, but I've never had an issue with the 115-130A alternators that come on these trucks.

I thought they came with the 60 amp alternator, 100+ should be enough (I am looking at approx 40amps of lights.)

The smallest alternator that was put on a modular was a 115A,if memory serves me right. Depending on your truck's options,it's likely got a 130A.

The attached link does describe a V10, but it might also work on the V8.

I recently contacted PowerMaster and was informed that they will have a 200W alternater for the F250 / F350 in 2009. However, I specifically asked about the 2005 F350 w/ 5.4L engine...

I am looking into installing a 8 gauge power wire directly from the alternator to the batter to help with the charging efficiency (I have an 04' SVT Focus which I installed an underdrive pulley and had a little bit of a charging loss due to being a 1 piece kit, I installed a power wire and it helped out!) the thing I am not sure about is installing a fuse or a load protector thats a lot of amperage to find a compatible fuse.

OEM wiresize is a #6. If you're doing anything-change it to a #4 or larger.

I will probably just add a 6 gauge to the current one or maybe 4. What would be the best way to put a fuse protector to the secondary wire?

Fuse protection for the secondary wire from the alternator to the battery, I want to leave the stock one on / then add a second wire to help with the alternator efficiency. I am also going to be upgrading the grounds.

Replace the OEM wire with a larger wire. It's fuse protected through the studs on the distribution block. No need to use another fuse or the expense of it.
