front end alignment

front end alignment

My truck has been pulling to the left for a couple of weeks and I took it to have the alignment checked, the left tire is "toed" out. They wanted 105.00 to align it. What I was wondering was if anyone knows how much each turn of a tie rod end changes the alignment or if there is a web site that explains this.

I can explain it easily.....

Toe won't cause a pull...not unless it's REALLY bad. As for just turning the adjustment sleeves, don't do it.

The $100 to adjust toe is crazy. Are you sure they weren't talking about camber or caster and the $100 included the adjustment bushing and labor to change it out. If thats what they were talking about then $100 is in the ball park.

be sure to check your brake calipers and brake slides. An easy way check them is to chock the rear tires and lift the front end off the ground, spin both wheels and if the left is tighter than the right it might be your problem. If it is bad enough it will cause tire wear similar to an alignment problem because you have to steer to correct the pull.

I just got done doing ball joints and camber kits on my truck before I had it aligned... I paid $63 a piece (cost) for MOOG camber kits and then $58 for the alignment... so I could be wrong, but I doubt $100 would cover parts, installation and an alignment...
